What information we collect

None that leaves your device. Entrain Binaural does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. There is no backend service, no user account, and no third-party advertising, attribution, analytics, or crash-reporting software in the app.

Information stored on your device

To make the app work — remember your preferences and show your progress — the following is saved locally on your phone (in the operating system's standard app storage). It never includes your name, email, contacts, location, or any account identifier, and it stays on your device:

  • Preferences — theme, repeat, "mix with other audio", immersive-spatial settings, bedtime-reminder time.
  • Favorites — the sessions you've hearted (referenced by their built-in track ID).
  • Listening history & stats — play counts, seconds listened, and timestamps of recent sessions (kept to your most recent 100), used for streaks and recommendations.
  • Resume point — the last session and position, so you can pick up where you left off.

You can erase all of it at any time by deleting the app.

Backups you control

The app lets you export a backup of your favorites, stats, and history as a JSON file. When you tap Export, the file is created on your device and handed to your system share sheet — you choose where it goes (Files, AirDrop, email, and so on). The app itself never uploads it anywhere. Import works the same way in reverse: you pick a file with the system document picker and the app merges it locally.

Notifications

The optional bedtime reminder is a local notification scheduled on your device. It uses no push server and sends no data over the network. You can turn it on or off any time in the app, and it only appears if you grant notification permission.

Device permissions & why

Third-party services

Entrain Binaural uses open-source software components for audio playback, on-device storage, the home-screen widget, share sheet, file picker, and local notifications. None of them collect or transmit your data. There are no advertising or analytics services.

Children

Entrain Binaural is intended for adults. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Help & getting the most out of it

Entrain Binaural plays binaural-beat soundscapes — synthesized in real time — as relaxation, focus, and sleep experiences. Here are the essentials.

Use headphones

Binaural beats rely on a slightly different tone in each ear, so they only work with stereo headphones — not a single phone speaker. The immersive spatial (3D) sessions also need headphones.

Common questions

  • Sleep timer — set a fixed duration or "end of this track" so playback stops on its own.
  • Immersive spatial (3D) — turn it on in Profile or the player for orbiting 3D sound; it needs headphones and can be intense, so there's a one-time motion notice.
  • Bedtime reminder — enable it in Profile → Reminders and pick a time; grant the notification prompt when asked.
  • Backup & restore — Profile → Backup lets you export your data to a file and restore it later or on another device.
  • Home-screen widget — add the Entrain Binaural widget; tap it to jump straight into the current session.
  • Mix with other audio — play sessions alongside another app instead of interrupting it.

Health & safety. Entrain Binaural is not a medical device and makes no health claims. Don't drive or operate machinery while listening. Keep the volume comfortable and stop if you feel dizzy, anxious, or unwell. Consult a physician first if you are pregnant or have a heart, seizure/epilepsy, or mental-health condition. For adults.

Troubleshooting

  • No sound or "flat" beats? Make sure you're wearing stereo headphones and the volume is up.
  • Playback stopped when I unplugged headphones? That's intentional — beats don't work on the speaker, so the app pauses.
  • Reminder didn't fire? Check that notifications are allowed for Entrain Binaural in your system settings.
  • Still stuck? Email hello@abmurz.com with your device model and OS version.
